The cat is some and most popular species of pets. Despite this, not so much still was known of features of cat's anatomy and, in particular, sight. Most of inhabitants still have outdated ideas of the brothers smaller. It is accepted to think that cats do not see flowers and are rather helpless day in the afternoon. In reality everything is a little differently.

1. Refuse a prejudice that at cats black-and-white sight. Until recently was considered that cat's have monochrome sight, but in practice they distinguish several chromatic flowers (simply worse, than the person) and more than twenty shades of gray.
2. Cats really are guided in the dark much better. It is connected with a special reflective layer of a retina of their eyes which is called "тапетум" (other - Greek "cover"). This layer doubles the perceived photon of light and allows to see better.
3. Pay attention to how cats behave during the game. To horizontal movement of a toy they react more actively, than to vertical. It is connected with hunting instincts: mice and rats move in the horizontal plane therefore as a result of evolution, after centuries of tracing of production at cats the specific feature of sight developed, it is simpler to them to be focused on the subject moving horizontally.
4. At cats three-dimensional, panoramic sight. Their eyes are located closely to each other, the look is directed forward. The formed effect of binocular sight allows a cat to be exact idea of a surrounding situation and to precisely calculate finding of the victim. But there is also essential minus: to see an object on the periphery, it is necessary to turn the head. Besides, cats are short-sighted, objects in a distance appear as it indistinct silhouettes.
5. Eyelids are necessary to cats for protection of mucous membranes of eyes and regulation of light getting to them. Unlike people, cats have the third, side eyelid distributing plaintive liquid on the surface of eyes. Characteristic of the structure of eyes of cats is existence of bigger quantity of the cages perceiving light, than even at some primacies. They have also more neurons in the centers of processing of visual information in a brain.
