Rage is a dangerous viral disease which is transmitted through saliva at a sting to sick animals. Rage among dogs is quite widespread. They are infected, as a rule, by wild animals or by the relatives carriers. The incubation period lasts 3-6 weeks then the disease begins to be shown.

1. Distinguish violent and silent manifestation of a disease. In the first case the behavior of an animal undergoes significant changes. The dog becomes sluggish and apathetic, at her the appetite vanishes. The animal refuses to execute commands, seeks to take refuge in the quiet, protected from light place.
2. Sometimes the sick dog becomes busily tender. She persistently tries to obtain attention of the owner, licks his face and hands (that is extremely dangerous as if saliva gets on the injured skin, there can be infection). Then such behavior is replaced by concern: the animal becomes disturbing, constantly barks, to something listens, frightened.
3. Also eating habits of a dog change. Along with refusal of food the pet can swallow inedible objects. A characteristic symptom of rage are spasms of pharyngeal muscles because of which the animal does not become able to swallow water.
4. Further the mad dog begins to show aggression in relation to people (including to the owner) and also to other animals. At this time at a dog saliva is actively emitted, and bark becomes hoarse and passes in howl. The rage is succeeded by apathy when the exhausted animal not movably lies.
5. At the last stage at an animal the lower jaw is not closed, paralysis at first of back extremities, and then and all body develops. As a result will paralyze heart and a respiratory system, and the animal perishes.
6. At a silent form of rage the dog does not show aggression. She becomes tender, does not depart from the owner, seeks to lick him. Then the disease also flows in paralysis. Also symptoms of rage can be atypical, being shown in the form of vomiting or a bloody diarrhea.
