Such infectious disease as dog rage, is very dangerous and without vaccination leads to death. There are various ways of transfer of rage at dogs.
Symptoms of rage
In an onset of the illness changes in behavior of a dog are noted: he becomes extraordinary tender, sometimes, opposite, too timid and alerted, ceases to eat, the taste can become perverted, begins to use something inedible. From a mouth saliva too intensively flows, vomiting is sometimes noted. The similar state can last up to 4 days.
In the second period of rage the dog becomes nervous, shows aggression, gnaws the earth and various objects, tries to run away. There are cases of attack on people and other animals.
Further there are spasms which occur more often over time and become longer. In this phase of rage at a dog temperature increases, often there is vomiting, squint, paralysis of extremities, drinks and throats is shown, becomes drooped the lower jaw, saliva continuously flows, bark becomes muffled. It lasts about 3 days. The final stage of a disease includes the following signs: weight is sharply lost, hinder legs, then all trunk and front extremities are taken away at first, and soon there comes death. This phase lasts 2-4 days.
Ways of infection with rage from dogs
Most often this disease is transmitted through a sting to sick animals. Together with saliva of the infected animal the virus causing rage gets into a wound. Having appeared in an organism, it extends on the nervous terminations, getting to back, and then and a brain. It is established that saliva of the infected animal can conceal in itself this virus when actually rage did not come yet, and the dog behaves as usual. Infection is possible several days prior to manifestation of obvious symptoms of a disease, and in certain cases and in two weeks. Therefore the people and animals bitten by a dog at whom symptoms of rage at that time were not observed all the same risk to be infected: they have to ask as soon as possible for medical assistance and receive medical treatment. Degree of danger of a sting depends also on the place of defeat: they are especially dangerous in those places where there are a lot of the nervous terminations. By fast death can bring a sting into the area of the head. For this reason at dogs this disease often develops promptly: as a rule, they bite each other close to the head. Physicians established cases when dog rage was transmitted not only through a sting. Infection can occur even if the sick dog just licked a fresh scratch on a body of human or other animal. Infection is not excluded and at anatomization of a body of the dead from this disease, contact with blood.
