The breed the Caucasian sheep-dog appeared in the USSR. These dogs are devoted defenders of the person. Excellent indicators of representatives of breed allow to use them as assistants even in the most severe climatic conditions.

1. In general, the Caucasian sheep-dog represents a large brawny dog with dense wool. Head of an animal large and massive, malar arches wide. At a look from above reminds a stupid wedge with the wide basis.
2. The skull is also massive and wide, a forehead flat and with a longitudinal furrow. There are expressed superciliary arches, the occipital hillock does not act.
3. Transition from a forehead to a muzzle is expressed smoothly. The muzzle wide and deep, is narrowed from a nose bridge to a nose lobe. Massive jaws, there are relief chewing muscles.
4. The lobe of a nose has black color, does not support the general contour of a muzzle. Full lips, with plentiful pigmentation. A bite at the Caucasian sheep-dog nozhnitseobrazny or direct.
5. Eyes are small by the size, have the form of an oval and superficial landing. They are located widely and slantwise. Color of eyes from dark to nut is allowed.
6. The auricle small and thick, has the triangle form. Its internal part densely adjoins to a skull, and in a cartilage the sagging is observed. According to traditions in the country of origin of breed, ears need to be stopped.
7. A neck at the Caucasian sheep-dogs of average length, very powerful, with the expressed nape. Wide and brawny case.
8. Back of an animal direct, wide and strong. Short waist, slightly convex. The croup wide and roundish, is available a small inclination to the tail basis.
9. The thorax consisting of roundish edges is well developed. The belt is moderately tightened. The tail has the form of a sickle or a ring, in a condition of excitement it rises over the line of a back.
10. Front extremities brawny, are put widely and located in parallel each other. Humeral bones are pressed to a thorax, the humeral belt developed and brawny.
11. Back extremities direct and also are located in parallel each other. Corners of knee and skakatelny joints are expressed moderately. Hips and shins at the Caucasian sheep-dogs wide and brawny.
12. Skin at these dogs thick and without folds, is not deprived of elasticity. Hair rough and direct, underfur plentiful. Length of wool is not less than 5 cm, in the head and in front of extremities of hair shorter and dense.
13. The color is allowed various: continuous, skewbald, spotty. Also all shades are admissible. The exception makes a continuous black color.
14. Height in withers for dogs fluctuates from 72 to 75 cm, for a bough – from 67 to 70 cm. Weight at dogs has to be at least 50 kg, at a bough – 45 kg. At representatives of this breed the sex is visually pronounced, dogs are much larger also massivny a bough.
