The breed a Shar-Pei appeared in China. Initially Shar-Peis were used by peasants as guard dogs. At the end of the 20th century in China, rules of keeping of dogs so became tougher that all Shar-Peis were almost exterminated. The breed received new life thanks to the American enthusiasts.

13. The underfur is not available for Shar-Peis. Length of wool fluctuates from 1 mm to 2.5 cm.
14. All colors, except white are acceptable. At the same time a tail and the back surface of a hip it is often painted is slightly lighter, more spots should not be. Height in withers for an adult individual fluctuates from 44 to 51 cm.
