What is possible and what it is impossible to give to a decorative rabbit in food quality? How it is correct to feed the pet in house conditions? What has to be a daily diet of a rodent.
Decorative rabbit – the pet who is fallen in love by much who is got only for companionship, leisure and positive emotions, but not for the sake of receiving meat and wool.
This representative of rodents differs in prettiness, playfulness, interesting features of behavior, tendency to education and even to training.
As well as other animals partners, a decorative rabbit demands competent contents, otherwise the little fluffy will leave behind only bitterness of loss and traces of the recent presence.
The correct feeding – guarantee of good health and active activity of the ward will allow not to allow premature death of a pet and problems with his health.
How to feed a decorative rabbit
It is necessary to feed an animal round the clock. That is, in that place where the dwelling of the kid is equipped, – food has to be always available in unlimited number.
Hunger and long breaks between meals are categorically contraindicated to decorative rabbits. The thing is that at these mammals – the special structure of digestive bodies, in particular, the extended intestinal path where there is the main process of digestion of food.
Due to constant receipt of new portions of food perhaps normal functioning and depletion of intestines. Otherwise the animal will suffer from stomach pains and excess fermentation of stool.
Thus, in the open-air cage of a rabbit there have to be constantly a fresh hay, wood bark and branches.
And replenishment of a feeding trough greens, fruit and vegetables needs to be carried out twice a day – in the morning and in the evening.
As for water in a drinking bowl, it needs to be changed regularly.
What to feed a decorative rabbit in house conditions with
As decorative rabbits are absolutely thoughtless as regards a meal, responsibility for quality and amount of food completely lays down on the owner.
The main share of a diet of fluffy small animals is made by rough forages which are responsible for grinding of teeth of animals, intake of vegetable cellulose and as it was told above, – full work of digestive system.
Treat rough sterns:
- hay (meadow, steppe, cereal);
- straw (lentil, bean), dried flowers;
- branches, bark of berry bushes and fruit-trees;
- during the winter period branches of coniferous trees are offered rabbits: firs, fir-trees, pines.
It is impossible to give to decorative rabbits of a branch of a heather, elder, poison ivies, brittle willows, a Labrador tea and wolf berries.
Rough forages dried wild-growing herbs – sources of vitamins and minerals are also included:
- clover;
- lucerne;
- plantain;
- yarrow;
- field dandelion;
- great nettle.
As natural juicy products the rabbit is suited:
- tomatoes, paprika;
- cabbage – broccoli, white, color;
- melon cultures – a melon, pumpkin, eggplants, squash;
- tubers and root crops of vegetables – peas, corn, fodder beet, potatoes, carrots, turnip.
Fill up with juicy sterns the pet's feeding trough in morning and evening hours of 120-250 grams on each feeding, changing their range approximately once a week.
Cabbage and carrots are admissible in the minimum portions (in the form of delicacy): their excessive use by a rabbit causes an abdominal distension, the increased gas generation, gripes in intestines, deterioration in appetite.
From fruit and berries are allowed a decorative rabbit:
- pears and apples;
- apricots and peaches;
- kiwi, bananas, grapes, prunes;
- cherry, quince, raspberry, blackberry, strawberry, watermelon.
Only thing ""but"": these products should not be the main part of the morning and evening menu, and be offered only as a dessert 2-3 times a week from calculation – 20-25 grams at one time of food.
All vegetables and fruit, before giving on a table to the pet, surely wash, and if necessary also clean from a thin skin.
Green forages for a domestic rabbit are presented:
- corn leaves;
- parsley, celery;
- greens of oats and winter rye;
- sheet salad, basil.
Introduction is fresher than some greens in a food basket of an animal upon termination of winter important to carry out gradually. In the summer green food, at all its usefulness, should not surpass rough forages in quantity: daily norm – 70-150 grams in the morning and in the evening.
The forbidden products for a decorative rabbit
Under the ban any thermally processed food (boiled, fried, tinned) and all sweets gets (sugar lump sugar, chocolate, candies, cookies, muesli).
Also it is impossible to feed a decorative rabbit with dairy products, pastries, bread and crackers.
At decorative rabbits, as well as at any other domestic animals, the individual intolerance of some types of food is possible. Thus, at manifestation of allergic reactions (hypostases, vomiting, a diarrhea) on any given forage, it is necessary to exclude it from the pet's diet unconditionally.
