From where at a snake poison

Without special need of people prefers not to face a great number of dangerous animals. Snakes concern those. Besides specific appearance, many of them have ability to kill by means of poison.

Of what snakes really it is worth being afraid?

According to scientists in the world there are about 2400 species of snakes. About 8% from them are poisonous. Poison of some is capable to kill the person for fractions of a second, the dangerous product of others works only as paralytic means, at the third he is not capable to do to the person any harm.

Some people assume that snakes have a specific sting or throw poison by means of the doubled language. However this opinion is incorrect. Generally snake poison can get into blood only by means of a sting.

The danger is constituted only by teeth of a snake: peaked canines, in many cases recurved. Such building allows an animal to immobilize food and to swallow it entirely. Today in the world there are only two famous families of venomous snakes: cobras and vipers. All their representatives have ability to produce dangerous substance. Also venomous snakes meet in family a koluber.

As poison is emitted and there is a dangerous sting

At all venomous snakes of gland are located in a mouth. They pass on the upper jaw and unite to two symmetrically located teeth. In them there pass hollow tubules (at some representatives the fillets come to light). At poisonous gland the maxillary muscle is located. At mechanical action (sting) she presses gland that she promotes production of poison. It fills teeth which fillets open, releasing a poison directly to the place of a sting. Direct contact with the victim is necessary however not for all cobras. Among family there are unique "spitting" representatives. In this case poison is splashed out from openings on front side of teeth outside. It works only at contact with mucous membranes. The spitting cobras, as a rule, aim to the victims in eyes to blind them. Scientists note that representatives of family of gadyukovy differ in more complex structure of teeth. Their canines longer, sharp, recurved. At the closed mouth the teeth kind of develop. At a culmination point of hunting they make 90 degree turn, adopting the fighting provision. It should be noted that cobras and vipers bite differently. The first need to carry out quickly a series of stings properly to immobilize the victim. Vipers are not able to afford to clench a jaw because of length teeth (sometimes the reaching 4 cm) and their fragility. Therefore the snake actively works only with the top part, quickly striking with it the victim. Very often teeth break. That the viper did not remain hungry and unprotected, along with acting she has the growing-up replacing canines.
