As well as the person, in life of a cat has several periods: childhood, youth, maturity and old age. There is a technique which allows to calculate a ratio between age of the person and a cat.
Life expectancy of a cat is much less, than at the person. On average the homeless animal lives 7 years, and the well-groomed and well protected pet – 13-15 years. How to compare age of a cat and the person
Owners of cats quite often try to correlate age of the favourites to human, using a popular method – multiplication of age of a cat by seven. Thus, the one-year-old animal is a child of seven years, a two-year-old cat – the fourteen-year-old teenager, three-year-old – the twenty-eight-year-old young man. In practice it is impossible to call such ratio correct, for example, in seven years of people cannot have yet posterity whereas the one-year-old cat is quite capable to reproduction.
Scientists-felinologists offer other ways of calculation which change, depending on age of an animal. So, the one-month kitten on development is equal to the six-month-old child, and two-month – one-year-old. At the age of one year physical and intellectual development of a cat same, as well as at people in 15 years. Such ratio looks quite reasonable: within the first year of life the cat learns to live independently: to get food, to look after itself, to be protected, get on with people around. Approximately the same is done by the person during the period from the birth up to 15 years. The period from two to eight years – age of full blossoming for a cat. It corresponds to 24-48 years at the person. This time of the greatest physical activity and keen interest in world around. After achievement of 8 years the cat enters a time of middle age. As well as at people, this period at animals can proceed differently: some cats are healthy and full of strength, and some begin to experience action of the coming old age.
As the age of the person and a cat after 12 years corresponds
It is considered that 12 years for a cat the same that 60-64 years for the person. The animal becomes "pensioner": moves a little and not really willingly, hardly transfers changes to lives, more often and longer is ill. But some cats remain vigorous and active even at this age, as well as well remained people. The fifteen-year-old cat and the 76-year-old person are approximately equal for health reasons and to a stock of vital forces. And animal 18-20 years meet the same frequency, as well as people long-livers are more senior than 90 years.
