1. If your aquarium represents a parallelogram, you need to measure its width, depth and length outside and to write down these values.
2. Now you should calculate internal dimensions. For this purpose measure tank wall thickness, increase by two and subtract the received figure from each measurement. For example, aquarium wall thickness 0.5 centimeters. You need to subtract centimeter from external length to find internal length.
3. Transfer centimeters to meters and calculate aquarium volume, using internal measurements. Increase length by width and height, and you receive volume in cubic meters.
4. Now transfer cubic meters to liters. In one cubic meter one thousand liters.
5. Let's take a standard 50th liter aquarium with wall thickness in 0.5 centimeters and the following external dimensions of 54х27х35 centimeters. Its internal dimensions will be equal 53kh26kh34santimetra. We subtracted 1 centimeter, the aquarium wall thickness increased by two from each measurement. Its volume in cubic meters will be 0.54 x 0.26 x 0.35 = 0.0491 centimeter or 49 liters.
6. It would seem, the difference in 1 liter is not so essential, but this volume corresponds to the amount of water poured in an aquarium to the edges and only if in the tank there is nothing any more. If we do not add water to edge of an aquarium on 3 centimeters, then in is mute waters 0.5 liters smaller. How did we learn it? Having increased the area of a bottom by height from a water surface to edge of an aquarium, that is 0.54х0.29х0.03 and having transferred the received figure – 0.0042 – from cubic centimeters to liters.
7. Now it is possible to take away water about a liter on the volume occupied by the filter and the heater. And about 0.5 liters on snags or other decorative accessories. Thus, your 50th liter aquarium actually contains about 47 liters. And the more an aquarium, the difference between the stated volume and real is more noticeable.
