1. Guppies are viviparous aquarium fishes, peace, unpretentious and very beautiful. Sorting of whitebaits of the guppy can be begun since two weeks. It is the best of all to do it after feeding. At two-week age at females of the guppy on a paunch near an anal fin the dark speck becomes noticeable. However, not at all individuals it is shown in at one time therefore sorting is made repeatedly. At the light-painted breeds a speck light, but not dark, it has no silvery outflow. At males it is absent, the paunch has a uniform silvery outflow.
2. Females of the guppy are much larger than males, grow to 5-6, and sometimes and to 7 cm. Length of a body of males does not exceed 3-4 cm. A difference in sizes – one of the main, most noticeable distinctions allowing to define a sex of small fishes.
3. Females of the guppy usually have gray coloring with a greenish or violet outflow, a tail fin small. Males are very beautiful, have bright, attractive coloring. Multi-colored spots, strokes, patterns on their body are poured by all colors of the rainbow. The tail and fins long, magnificent and, depending on breed, have the various form. At good feeding the difference in coloring becomes noticeable already in one and a half - two months.
4. The male of the guppy has the body extended, flattened from sides. A body of a female too extended with more flattened back part. It is difficult to define a sex of a small fish on this sign, especially in the absence of experience.
5. The anal fin of males and females of the guppy has various building. At females it rounded shape. At males extended, pointed. Later, in one and a half – two months, it begins to twist. It is formed genopodiya. However, not at all individuals this sign appears at the same time. Sometimes surely it is possible to define a sex only in 3 – 4 months that is connected with rather often shown hermaphroditism of fishes.
