1. Examine a dog if you noticed a gray hair in a chin and lips, most likely, she already crossed a 7-year boundary. Consider that the gray hair over the years extends also to a forehead and all muzzle of a dog.
2. Pay attention to eyes, they sink down with age and seem deeply put, the back becomes soft, and the stomach falls. Look at wool, at an old dog it dim and tousled, at young – smooth and silky.
3. The most reliable way to learn age of a dachshund – examine her teeth. Closer by the night when the dog is tired and will be in sleepy and full mood, slowly approach it and move apart lips so that it was visible teeth, unclench a jaw. Try not to touch a nose, it is not pleasant to dogs. After survey do not forget to give to a dachshund delicacy that it was associated at it with something pleasant.
4. Look how many at a dog of teeth, the healthy normal dachshund in a year has all second teeth, they are still fresh, brilliant and white. During the period from 18 months to 2 years the lower hooks are erased, in two and a half years it is possible to notice that average cutters of the lower jaw are erased, pay attention, at this age the teeth became more dim and not such brilliant.
5. Try to determine the age on canines: in 5 years they are erased and become stupid, by 6 years they become covered by a scale at the basis and turn yellow, and in 7-8 years canines of a dachshund already absolutely stupid, yellow and are squeezed from sides.
6. If you saw that hooks of the lower jaw took back oval form, safely draw a conclusion about that the dog is more senior than 7 years. Consider that the same form is taken by the lower average cutters in 8-9 years, and hooks of the upper jaw – in 9-10 years.
7. Remember that teeth at a dog begin to drop out from 10-12 years. At this age the dog already, most likely, cannot be a producer, the sight and hearing weaken.
