Buying or accepting privately a budgerigar, its future owner has to be sure that he takes a young and healthy individual in the house. Budgerigars live at most 8-10 years. But you will not ask the passport and the birth certificate for a bird. And the seller of a parrot can lower slightly his age to raise a possibility of sale or to bid up. By what signs it is possible to determine how adult bird to you is offered?

1. The brightest sign of young age at wavy parrot is that wavy drawing on the head thanks to which this kind of parrots received the name. At a parrot who is younger than six months this drawing covers a front part of a back and passes to the head. Moreover, it reaches the voskovitsa - the basis of a beak on which there are nostrils. The drawing over a voskovitsa disappears during the first molt of a parrot which, as a rule, occurs in six months.
2. One more sign of youth at a parrot are black spots on a horn part of a beak, brushes, similar to dabs. It is possible to determine by these spots that the birdie is no more than two months old. However this sign is characteristic only of normally painted birds. The parrot albino will have no such spots at any age.
3. Pay attention to eyes of a parrot. Existence of an iris of the eye around eyes says that the bird is already more senior than six months. However, there are also mutations as a result of which eyes of a parrot during all life remain black, or dark red.
4. The young age is demonstrated by also gentle-pink or violet color of a voskovitsa characteristic of males and the self-check is younger than two months. By two months of voskoviyets becomes white (sometimes with a bluish shade) or beige, or, on the contrary, considerably darkens.
5. Look at throat spots of a bird: at young parrots they have no accurately oval form yet. Young parrots possess also brighter color of plumage, than adults. However, assessment of this sign requires direct comparison of the studied bird with the senior individual of a similar color.
6. The following sign capable to give age of a budgerigar is his pads. At an elderly bird the surface of paws non-uniform, separate scales are with the naked eye visible.
7. Can serve as one more reference point in determination of age it is long a tail of a bird. If to exclude loss probability a bird of tail feathers, then the short tail is sign of young age - no more than two and a half months.
