The chihuahua, as well as any dog, is a carnivore. But it does not mean that it is necessary to feed her only with meat. Even in the wild nature many wild animals with pleasure complement the meat diet with fruit, berries, and other vegetable food.
What has to be food of a chihuahua
That the organism of a chihuahua got used to the mode, it is necessary to feed a dog at the same time. It promotes the correct work of digestive system. The adult dog needs to be fed twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. It is desirable not to feed the pet for the night. It is better to give food each twelve hours. For example, a breakfast at 8 o'clock in the morning and a dinner at 8 o'clock in the evening. Elderly dogs can be fed once a day.
For calculation of quantity of a forage the rule – 50-80 g of food acts on 1 kg of weight of a dog. It is possible to feed with a chihuahua both ready-made feeds for dogs, and natural food. Ready forages it is more convenient as their structure is developed taking into account all requirements of an organism of an animal. But despite all pluses of a store forage, many owners prefer to feed the dogs with natural food.

Animal protein has to be a basis of food of a chihuahua (these are about two thirds of a diet). Squirrels contain in fowl, beef, fish, dairy products, eggs, etc. Before giving to the pet beef or veal – it it is necessary to scald boiled water. Fowl and fishes it is necessary to boil and clean from skin and bones. Chicken and eggs can be given to a chihuahua not more often than once a week, and fish is not more often than two times. It is useful to add dairy products to a diet of a dog. They contain calcium, iodine and potassium – chihuahuas of substance, necessary for an organism. But in pure form it is not necessary to milk, at the majority of adult dogs it is not acquired. Instead of milk please the favourite with kefir, sour cream or low-fat cottage cheese. It is also possible to give cheese and yogurt. From food of plant origin at a diet of a chihuahua there have to be vegetables and grain. From grain it is necessary to cook porridges (rice, buckwheat, corn). Add meat to ready porridge and water from above with a small amount of olive or sunflower oil. From vegetables tomatoes, cucumbers, squash will be suitable for food of a dog. Carrots are very useful. Vegetables need to be boiled or grated.
What it is impossible to feed a chihuahua with
Chihuahuas are contraindicated the following products: • river or fat fish (it is possible to feed only with sea fish, but not a pollock); • pork; • smoked and sausages; • the fish and canned meat intended for people; • salty, sweet, sharp, sour; • fried and fat; • nuts, cabbage, bean, pepper. Food for a chihuahua should not be too cold or too hot. In need of it it is necessary to cool or warm to room temperature.
