Instruction

1. Think over hedgehog food so that weighing 500-700 grams he consumed about 100 grams of food a day. Food for a hedgehog has to contain a lot of calcium, a squirrel and it is not enough fat as hedgehogs are inclined to obesity, and it is dangerous to them.

2. You feed a small animal with a special forage for hedgehogs, but if it cannot be got, then it is quite possible to pick up a diet from readily available products. You can come into contacts with suppliers of crickets, bugs, cockroaches for a hedgehog. It is also possible to feed a hedgehog with mice: in house conditions will last for an average ordinary hedgehog of one adult mouse for the whole day.

3. Replace insects in a hedgehog diet with meat if at you it is impossible to overcome fastidiousness (it is opposite to many people even to look at insects) or it is not possible to get them in enough.

4. Take a beef piece without fat, veal, miss a rabbit via the meat grinder. Do not add spices, salt, onions at all. You can use a breast of chicken or a turkey.

5. Give to a hedgehog 1 tablespoon of meat for time, make forcemeat or cut very small pieces. It is a little fruit or berries and nuts are useful to hedgehogs. Once a week can be offered a hedgehog some new food (for example, forcemeat from a rabbit, instead of beef).

6. Indulge a young hedgehog with quail egg once a week, in a shell make an opening before giving egg to a hedgehog.

7. Exclude from a hedgehog diet the frozen or cold food, pork, sausages, fish and fish products, canned food, sausage, any food with the content of sugar (candies, cakes, compotes, kissels and so forth), eggs, milk and dairy products because hedgehogs have practically no enzymes digesting lactose (recommend only to pregnant females goat milk in very small amount). And also categorically you do not feed hedgehogs with salty, fried, sour, greasy and sweet food.

8. Do not feed to hedgehogs of snails and slugs. In spite of the fact that in the nature the hedgehogs eat them with pleasure, snails and slugs in the native habitat are often infected by parasites. There is a danger that the hedgehog too in turn will be infected.
