Quails are domestic birdies which are supported only in cages. They are deprived of an opportunity to independently get a forage and therefore they need to receive full feeding. The forage of quails surely has to consist of three main ingredients: proteinaceous, vitamin, grain, plus gravel, shells and water. The surplus or the shortage at least of one of components can badly affect health of quails.
Instruction
1. Quails can use the most various forage. The main rule — the forage has to be fresh, not mouldy, without the content of harmful impurity. If to use a dry feed, it can be filled in a feeding trough with a small stock.
2. Any damp forage should not remain in a feeding trough more than two hours. Otherwise it can turn sour, and as a result the bird will get poisoned. Besides, it is better to mix a damp forage with some grain to receive friable consistence. The liquid, sticky, viscous forage very often hammers to birdies of a nostril, the beak also soils a feather.
3. The most suitable quail forage is compound feed for laying hens. Experts recommend to apply it. A little worse a broiler forage though it can be given to quails too.
4. From self-made mix from various shattered grain, for example, of a barley, semolina, oat, rice sechka and other will be the most acceptable for quails. Add the ground croutons from white loaf and also vitamins and proteinaceous products.
5. A proteinaceous part has to make about one heel from all diet. It can be boiled fish or fish meal, boiled meat or meat and bone meal, boiled eggs or egg powder, powdered milk or cottage cheese.
6. As nutritional supplements it is possible to give ready mixes for quails or laying hens. They can be got in pet-shop or in shop of compound feeds. The dosage is written on packing. If you have no opportunity to buy special vitamins, it is possible to buy in usual pharmacy polyvitamins, for example, of Kvadevit, Gendevit or Undevit. Shatter them and mix with a forage, it is only no more than one tablet on ten quails a day.
7. Besides vitamins the birds should give mineral substances. Make for them a special small feeding trough. And always fill it with the ground egg shell. Except a shell it is possible to give the ground sinks of river, sea or overland mollusks or school chalk (and it is even better special fodder). It is possible to add small pure gravel.
