Feeding of the castrated cats not too differs from what is suitable for their ungelded fellows, and still some nuances are. After operation the cats often become inactive, quiet and at preservation of former volumes of food quickly gain weight.
1. That the animal avoided obesity, reduce portions of food or pick up less high-calorie diet. If it is impossible to keep at the sight of the sad pet at an empty bowl, you feed him more often and gradually or provide physical activity – daily play with a cat, force it to run and jump, get or make more toys.
2. If your cat eats ready-made feeds, select professional, and it is better - specialized, developed for eunuchs. Preventive forages for the castrated cats prevent development of an urolithic disease; producers offer a wide choice from the budgetary forages to a premium class. Exist also medical (for cats who already suffer from stones in an urinary system), but they cannot be given to healthy animals. Do not forget that if the cat eats a dry feed, to it it is necessary to drink often and many; pass to canned food if the cat drinks seldom. It is better for the castrated cat not to give economy class forages – their quality is low, them completely balanced to call difficult.
3. If you chose feeding as natural products, the main rule is to give fish never. Fish rich with calcium, magnesium and phosphorus leads to formation of stones in an urinary system. The urolithic disease is life-threatening an animal, and after castration the cats are especially subject to this disease. The cat can receive the necessary quantity of minerals also from other food.
4. Surely you feed a cat with crude meat – a bird, beef. It is desirable to cut meat large pieces – it is necessary for health of teeth. The castrated cats are inclined to accumulation of a raid and formation of a stone on teeth, and chewing of crude meat saves from these problems. Do not give chicken skin better – it very badly is digested. It is possible to give an offal (liver, heart, lungs). Try to include fermented milk products (kefir, cottage cheese) in a diet. Krupyany porridges (oat flakes, buckwheat) and vegetables are very desirable. Do not give to a cat of smoked product, sausage, any other delicacies from your table – fat and salty products are harmful to a liver and kidneys of animals.
