It is necessary to hang up a drinking bowl with clear water. Guinea pigs quickly learn to drink from various drinking bowls. In the middle of a cage it is good to put hay in which pigs very much like to be dug in. Instead of a cage it is also possible to use a terrarium.
4. On a bottom of a cage it is necessary to fill a laying. If in this quality sawdust is used, they should not be too small. Small sawdust gets to pigs into eyes and causes inflammation. The laying changes approximately once in five-seven days, in need of a thicket. The pallet of a cage should be washed with disinfectant at least, than once a month.
5. The cage cannot be put on a draft or it is close to heat source. The pig can overheat or catch a cold. It is also necessary to exclude communication with sick people.
6. The main diet of a guinea pig – hay. It has to make to a half of all forage. Vegetables, fruit and also greens have to occupy approximately the fifth part of a diet. The special dry feed is also necessary for guinea pigs.
7. Clear water, hay and a dry feed have to be always in free access for an animal. Fresh vegetables and fruit should be given two-three times a day. Starvation for pigs is strictly forbidden. Even the sick pig should be fed up in the small portions. The guinea pig can die from exhaustion in only two days.
8. On character guinea pigs very friendly and sociable. They are timid only in an unfamiliar situation. Having got used to owners, they easily go on hands and treat caress favourably.
