The beautiful aquarium is original decoration of any house. But arrangement of an aquarium is rather complex business in which there are no trifles – any wrong action can lead to death of fishes and plants. One of the major stages by preparation of an aquarium is the choice of soil and its laying.
Instruction
1. The wellbeing of inhabitants of an aquarium and the plants planted in it directly depends on quality of soil. Remember that in an aquarium it is impossible to use fine sand, plants in it will feel very badly. Use only coarse-grained sand and small gravel with a diameter of 3-10 mm. Gravel has to be rounded, that is not have sharp sides. Try to select and sift so soil that its grains of sand were about one size, it is important for the good growth of plants.
2. In aquarian literature the council often meets to pickle aquarian soil acid to neutralize salts of calcium and magnesium. If you do not use limestone or marble as soil, in it there is no need. In a decorative aquarium the majority of species of aquarian fishes well feel also in rather hard water.
3. Having chosen soil, well wash out it. Wash out until the basin with sand is not left by absolutely clear water. Sometimes advise not to wash out completely soil from clay as it promotes growth of plants. Water in an aquarium remains slightly muddy the first two-three days, then clay accumulates and water becomes clear. As option, for fertilizing of plants it is possible to use the small balls from clay laid in soil. It is possible to stack such balls directly under roots of the planted plants.
4. Soil is prepared, start its laying. Remember that soil is never filled up in an aquarium with already juicy water. At first accurately lay soil in an aquarium, then put on it a saucer and already on a saucer accurately pour water. The saucer will protect soil from washing out.
5. Having filled with water a third of an aquarium, take out a saucer and start landing of plants. Having planted them, accurately, from a bucket, fill with water the remained aquarium volume. Pour out it so that not to create strong streams. Sustain an aquarium two-three days, and only after that start in it fishes. This time is necessary in order that all excess air and residues of chlorine was removed – in case you use usual tap water.
