Dwelling
First of all choose the dwelling for your pet. The type of the dwelling depends on a species of the turtle. If you get overland, she requires the earth and a little water. These animals live in moderate and subtropical latitudes, they have a hibernation period, consider it during creation of the dwelling for them.
You can make reliably protected space and fill it with the earth. Turtles like to hide therefore take care of that in the earth there were special deepenings for this purpose. Establish also the container with water in which the turtle will be able to swim. It is especially important during the hot period. If you have a water turtle, you need a large amount of water. The number of the earth depends on water turtles of a specific type, the earth is not required to some of them at all. Dwellings of all species of turtles can be in the open air. It has to be located under the open sun, among a large number of vegetation, harmless to them. Food
Turtles are very choosy when business concerns food. You can try to feed them with different food provided that you know about its harmlessness. Overland turtles, as a rule, are herbivorous, they eat sheet food with pleasure. Also they well eat strawberry, raspberry, bananas, flowers of dandelions, apples, peaches and tinned fruit. Water turtles eat animal food more often. They can be fed with shrimps, snails, grasshoppers, earthworms, crickets, etc. In their diet there has to be also a vegetable food (vegetables and fruit). Remember that turtles, as a rule, eat each 3 – 4 days. It is not necessary to feed the pet every day if did not speak to you only about it upon his purchase.
Purity and hygiene
You watch purity of the room in which the turtle lives. If you use an aquarium or a terrarium, wash it more often, change the earth, gravel and water. Use warm water, soap and disinfectants. Before placing new fillers in capacity, carefully dry up it. If water in the dwelling of a turtle is filtered, it is necessary to change it each 2 – 3 months, it is necessary to change not filtered water each 2 – 3 days. Drinking water always has to be clear, change it daily. Surely delete the formed seaweed from the tank. Delete all food which is not eaten by her from the dwelling of a turtle, she can become a source of infections. It is regularly also necessary to clean capacity from excrements.
