Overland turtles seem absolutely unpretentious pets. They do not need to be walked, they do not take a lot of place, do not chirp and do not mew, sleep on half a year. Actually overland turtles are interesting beings who require a certain leaving and attention.

1. The overland turtle needs a certain space which to her will create the optimum ecosystem suitable for dwelling. Establish a terrarium or the special open-air cage in the apartment. The place has to be lit and be warmed well, the turtle should not freeze. Optimum air temperature for keeping of an overland turtle – 21-31os in the afternoon, 16-19os at night.
2. Level of humidity of air should not be too low. During the period from November to March these pets need a wintering at a temperature 3-8os and humidity of air of 90%. Soil in a terrarium also has to be corresponding. As overland turtles live most often in the desert area, and soil has to be sandy.
3. Correctly make a food allowance for the pet. Overland turtles herbivorous therefore the main diet has to consist of fruit and vegetables (carrots, cucumbers, apples, cabbage, tomatoes, lettuce leaves, a dandelion, a plantain, an orach, coltsfoot, a sorrel, a nettle). It is allowed to give a little hard-boiled egg. Before feeding wash fruit thoroughly, do not give to a turtle mouldy and rotten products. Small knife firm forages or grate, mix. Give mix of vegetables and fruit on a wide and low pallet. Periodically add sprouts of barley or oats to food. In the small portions add a sea cabbage to a forage.
4. At overland turtles paws and the lower part of an armor therefore it is necessary to bathe the pet once a week quickly become soiled. Pour in a basin or a bathtub of a little warm water with a temperature 26-30os. Lower a turtle in water, use for cleaning of an armor and paws a toothbrush with a soft bristle. Be not overzealous not to damage an armor. Also do not forget to clean a terrarium from the remains of food and excrements weekly.
