Today, making the decision to lodge an exotic being in the house, house owners more often pay attention to spiders. They are unpretentious in contents, are clean and they do not need a lot of place.
Device of a terrarium and leavingLittle spiders can be supported in glass jars or small boxes, and large individuals – in glass and plastic terrariums. The bottom of capacity needs to be covered with peat, a moss and wood dust. As shelters for pets it is possible to place in a snag terrarium, flowerpots or unpretentious plants.
It is impossible to place cacti, objects with keen edges in a terrarium and ridge stones.
The container for keeping of a spider has to be closed densely by a cover in which openings for intake of air are provided. Temperature it is necessary to keep 25-27 degrees in limits inside. It is possible to control it in a terrarium by means of the thermostat. Fall of temperature is especially dangerous to full spiders – in a stomach there can be putrefactive processes. For maintenance of necessary level of humidity in a container it is necessary to put a saucer with water, capacity with the humidified moss or a laying which needs to be sprayed every day from a spray. The lack of humidity can lead to problems with a molt, and the spiders coming from tropics can die at all. However it is impossible to allow and overwettings of air – emergence of mold mushrooms and bacteria can cause a disease of covers of a body and respiratory bodies of an animal.
Additional lighting in a terrarium is not required to spiders. The fluorescent lamp or a biolamp will be suitable for heating.
The majority of spiders in the nature lead a nocturnalism therefore you should not put a terrarium under direct sunshine.
FeedingFood for spiders can be bought in poultry market or in pet-shops. Young people, often fading individuals, twice a week feed with juveniles of crickets and flour hearts. The diet of adult spiders is made by flies, cockroaches, crickets, frogs, mice and a locust. The fodder insect or an animal should not be more than a third of the size of the spider. Large spiders once in 10 days can give a small mouse or several large cockroaches and crickets.
Uneaten insects (even if live) need to be deleted from a terrarium that they did not damage covers of a body of a spider at once.
Before a molt the spiders can refuse food from three weeks to two months. In this case it is important to provide to pets access to fresh water. The drinking bowl which represents a simple cover from banks needs to be filled with daily boiled or settled water. That the animal did not overturn a drinking bowl, it is possible to put a smooth stone in it.
