Nitrates in sea aquariums give many troubles to aquarians. High level of their content in water harms invertebrate inhabitants of a reef, leads to the strengthened growth of seaweed which, in turn, suppresses growth of corals.
It is required to you
- - skimmer;
- - DSB;
- - medicines Tetra EasyBalance, Tetra AquaSafe or others to them similar;
- - organic denitrifiers;
- - coal.
Instruction
1. A source of nitrates in an aquarium are fillers for filters, tubes which usually are located under soil, the decaying forage remains, not purified water which is daily added instead of evaporated.
2. For maintenance is normal or decrease in level of nitrates avoid overpopulation of your aquarium. Its size has to correspond to the number of inhabitants and their sizes.
3. Do not overfeed your pets. One of sources of nitrates in a reef aquarium is the decaying forage. It is necessary to pour it so much that it was completely eaten within several minutes. Do not forget to delete the remains of a forage and the dying-off plants from an aquarium bottom.
4. Regularly replace a part of water in an aquarium. At each substitution use the medicines neutralizing compounds of heavy metals and chlorine, for example, of Tetra EasyBalance or Tetra AquaSafe.
5. With export of nitrogen the cultivation and weeding of sea macroseaweed can help that is effective at the low content of nitrates.
6. Use the skimmer. Completely it will not solve a problem of nitrates, but will help to reduce significantly nitrogen level in an aquarium.
7. Use DSB. Sometimes (the truth not always) it allows to support the level of nitrates lower than 0.5 mg/l.
8. Remove the filters intended for providing a nitric cycle. These devices process ammonia into nitrites, and then into nitrates. Removal of such filter will change and will accelerate processes of processing of nitrates on live stones and in ground sand and, finally, will allow to reduce their level.
9. Use organic denitrifiers. They not bad cope with removal of nitrates. A lack of these devices is the complexity of control of the conditions created in the reactor.
10. A little coal and polymers help to reduce the level of nitrates. Like skimmers they absorb and remove organic chemistry, without allowing it to decay.
