Instruction
1. In whatever purposes and with what in the ways you transported rabbits (railway or water, road or air transport) you should receive the specification with the indication of breed, a floor, ear number, weight and age. Before transportation it is required to do all obligatory vaccination and to receive a veterinary card, the veterinary certificate or the certificate of inoculations. These documents are valid no more than a month, and the reference from vetklinik usually is valid 3 days.
2. On long distances (for example, for sale) rabbits are transported in special transport tanks for small animals. These are usually easy air-permeable boxes with a water-proof bottom. For rabbits of average breeds the box has to be width – from 25 cm, length - from 50 cm and height – from 30 cm. In a cover the door with a large number of openings for ventilation is mounted. On length the cage is partitioned off on 8 equal offices.
3. If for transportation of a large number of rabbits are used railway transport, cars should be checked for processing of the disinfection and flushing station, sufficient airing previously. During the movement of the car filled with cages with rabbits, ventilation should be carried out through doors and windows with one leeward in the direction of the party. It is possible to open at the same time all doors and windows only on parking in very hot weather. If transportation is carried out in cold season, the car should be ventilated only through a door.
4. In transit by car on short distances them it is possible to transport rabbits without cages, groups on 10-15 pieces. Partition off a body on several offices and seat in them animals. Cover a body with a grid or tarpaulin that rabbits did not jump out. In hot weather of animals it is necessary to transport or at night, or early in the morning.
5. For the period of a way provide rabbits with fresh hay. If the long journey (more than 5 days) is necessary, surely provide a guarantee stock of forages more than for 7-8 days. Try to observe the same order habitual to rabbits and hours of feeding during transportation. In hot weather you monitor constant filling of drinking bowls water.
6. For transportation of a small amount of rabbits by air transport it is necessary to specify previously transportation conditions directly in airline. Some companies forbid transportation of animals, some have special luggage compartments for this purpose, and other airlines (if rabbits are not enough – to 10 pieces) allow to take them in salon. Each airline can have the requirement to a cage.
7. After transportation of rabbits immediately replace in the prepared cages, examine everyone and leave on a 4-day quarantine. It is necessary to feed the transported animals with a diet habitual to them and at the same time, as always. It is necessary to treat them carefully and attentively as they are excited and so far get used to new owners. If among the brought rabbits it is not revealed sluggish and sick, then after survey of the veterinarian they are settled in the general by farms.
