Konyyuktivit also can result from traumatizing an eye, irritation its detergents or other chemicals, sand, dust. The allergy to pollen of plants can be shown in the form of the konyyuktivit too.

Konyyuktivit symptoms

Konyyuktivit meets at dogs in four forms – catarrhal, purulent, follicular and flegmonozny.

The catarrhal form of the konyyuktivit is characterized by hypostasis and reddening of a mucous membrane of an eye and dacryagogue. In the absence of treatment the sharp form passes into chronic. At a purulent konyyuktivit these symptoms are followed by purulent allocations which at first are liquid, and then become dense. The dried-up pus disturbs a dog, and she constantly rubs eye paws. The photophobia forcing an animal to blink eyes is quite often observed. Inflammatory process can affect not only a konyyuktiva, but also a cornea. At a follicular konyyuktivit on an internal surface of the third century purulent follicles appear. Most often follicular konyyuktivit has the chronic form and periodically recurs. The most severe form – flegmonozny konyyuktivit, mentioning, along with konyyuktivy, subkonyyuktivalny fabric and an epithelium. Puffiness of a century, mucous or purulent allocations, ring-shaped protrusion of a konyyuktiva is observed. The surface of a konyyuktiva becomes vitreous, on it there are ulcers.

Treatment and prevention of the konyyuktivit

Treatment of the konyyuktivit consists in application of anti-inflammatory eye drops or ointments which part antibiotics are. Also anti-inflammatory medicines for intake are appointed. If konyyuktivit is a complication of other disease, first of all it is necessary to treat this disease. The veterinarian on results of inspection of an animal and laboratory analyses has to appoint treatment. Independently the owner can render to a dog only the pre-medical help. Eyes of a dog need to be washed with weak solution of potassium permanganate, then to moisten a cotton tampon with vaseline oil and to remove purulent crusts. That the dog was disturbed less by pain and an itch, it is possible to put on eyes cool compresses 2-3 times a day. As well as any disease, konyyuktivit easier to warn, than to treat. For this purpose it is necessary to wipe every morning eyes of a dog with the cotton tampon moistened with boiled water, to preserve it against contacts with animals at which konyyuktivit symptoms are observed and to treat in due time konyyuktivit the diseases capable to cause.
