The disease has some features: mass character - all cats are subject to this pathology, irrespective of breed; the seasonality - begins in the early spring, reaches peak in the summer and gradually falls down by winter; the age indicator — the maximum susceptibility to a virus is observed at kittens from 3 months to 1 year and adult cats have 8-9 years.

Causes of panleukopenia

The causative agent of a disease — parvovirus, the having size from 20 to 25 nanometers and pH, resistant to change, heating, action of air, chloroform, pepsin and trypsin. The microbe keeps the viability in the external environment the whole year thanks to what it is widespread in the nature.

The first clinical signs appear after hit of a virus in kcal of a cat. Infection of a parvovirusama of the upper airways is possible during vomiting and further spread of a virus with an airborne way. The inoculable mechanism of transfer of a virus is carried out by means of blood-sicking insects — fleas. Infection quite often occurs in the pre-natal way.

Clinical manifestations of panleukopenia

The incubation period begins with the moment of infection of a cat, lasts before manifestation of the first symptoms of a disease and is about 10 days. The expressiveness of clinical signs and the course of panleukopenia depends on age of cats, pathogenicity of a virus and a condition of the immune system of an animal. The disease begins sharply with sharp deterioration in a condition of a cat, failure of a forage, vomiting, temperature increase of a body to 41 wasps.
