Siamese vodorosleed lives in waters of the Malayan peninsula and Thailand. From there this amusing small fish was delivered to Russia still in the sixties by the 20th centuries. Siamese vodorosleed pretty fast became the favourite of many people. And all because this small fish – amusing and beautiful and also unpretentious in leaving and capable to live long enough in bondage.

Siamese vodorosleed – who it?

This is the representative of family of cyprinid fishes who is used some aquarians as natural means of fight against any given seaweed which existence in an aquarium is extremely undesirable. Siamese vodorosleeda are recognized by one of the most effective fishes in the niche. These are the only fishes eating red seaweed and giving the preference to young plants.

Distinctive feature of this species of aquarian fishes is presence at them of the characteristic black strip passing along all body of a vodorosleed: it begins on a tip of a nose of fish, and comes to an end on a tail. It should be noted that a body at this amusing fish long and bruskovaty. Its length at liberty can reach 16 cm, in bondage "fin whales" grow to the smaller sizes. Fins at a vodorosleed almost transparent. If to frighten a small fish, she loses the natural color, becoming light gray. Females of Siamese vodorosleed, as a rule, are slightly more fat than males.

This small fish has unique ability to cleaning of aquariums. For it the Siamese vodorosleed was nicknamed the hospital attendant of aquariums: experts consider that its presence at an aquarium is just necessary. And all thanks to the unique structure of jaws of a vodorosleed: they have the pointed form therefore fish without special work scrapes off seaweed from aquariums, from plants and from the scenery which are available in the tank. The most important in is that Siamese vodorosleeda do not do to underwater plants any harm at all!

Contents in bondage

Keeping of these fishes in an aquarium assumes also existence of a huge number of plants in it. Otherwise Siamese "fin whales" will eat around all available moss. Aquariums in which these fishes will contain have to have quite big sizes: as it was already noted, Siamese vodorosleeda in the nature grow to 16 cm, and in bondage – to 10-12 cm. These "fin whales" are amusing small fishes! What observation of their rest is necessary: unlike other inhabitants of an aquarium of a vodorosleeda sleep not on a stomach, and fix the little body in the raised situation, leaning at the same time on back fins and a tail. It is quite simple to contain in bondage of Siamese vodorosleed: this small fish is unpretentious in food and leaving, perfectly gets on with other species of fish. It is curious that vodorosleeda do not do harm to other fishes, they intrude upon leisure of aquarian waters only when chase one after another. It should be noted that these small fishes need good aeration of aquarian waters: they have by nature weak breath therefore the water oxygenated to them is vital. Only in this case Siamese vodorosleed will please the owner with active behavior, amusing habits and inexhaustible vital energy!
