The superiority in speed among predators on the earth belongs to representatives of the cat family, and among them the cheetah is considered the fastest – it the small predatory cat can run with a speed over hundred kilometers per hour. Others cat's are able to move quickly too, and among representatives of other families the coyote can brag of the highest speed.
CheetahCheetah – the fastest predator in the world. It is a type of the cat family which considerably differs on the building from other representatives of the family. This is a large cat with the developed muscles, honor with very slender body without fat deposits thanks to what the cheetah seems even too thin and fragile. But its ease and symmetry and also the special structure of the head – small, smooth, with small round ears – give to this predator an opportunity to gather huge speeds. The cheetah can disperse in only two seconds prior to 75 kilometers per hour (that it is possible to compare to the fastest racing car in the world), and the maximum speed of these cats reaches 120 kilometers per hour.
Thanks to the high-speed opportunities the cheetahs are excellent hunters, they hunt hares, gazelles, wildebeests and other small animals. They do not use the attack tactics extended among cat's because of bushes or shelters, and openly pursue the victim. But such runnings deprive of them forces therefore cheetahs should have a rest on half an hour after successful hunting.
Cheetahs are found in India, Africa and Asia, but activity of poachers gradually leads to the fact that these unique predators die out, in many countries they already completely disappeared.
Lion and other cat'sAmong predators the lion ranks second on speed, this large representative of the cat family can disperse up to 80 kilometers per hour. Lions lag from cheetahs because of the structure of the body so far behind: they are very massive and heavy, but powerful legs with well developed muscles allow to gather such high speed. Though lions males seldom use the ability, giving to lionesses the right to pursue production. Lions well are able to apply the ability to run quickly, they attack herd, forcing certain individuals to separate from the others and driving them into a trap. Tigers run almost also quickly as lions, especially separate types – for example, the Amur tiger to gather speed to 80 kilometers hour, moving at the same time on snow. The leopard moves a little more slowly, up to 75 kilometers per hour. The jaguar preferring to hunt in ambushes can move with a speed about 70 kilometers per hour, but only on very short distances.
Even ordinary domestic cats are able to run quickly, their maximum speed – 50 kilometers per hour.
CoyoteCoyote – the fastest predator on the earth, except for cat's. These animals treat family of canids, have the small sizes and weight, but are able to disperse up to 65 kilometers per hour though most often run with a speed about 50 kilometers per hour. They use the speed to hunt for hares, groundhogs, gophers and other small mammals, and sometimes catch also pheasants.
