Keeping of aquarium fishes – very fascinating occupation, a source of pleasure and interesting observations. There is a set of species of fish, but the beginning aquarians best of all will suit such unpretentious pets as the guppy and telescopes.
Guppies are viviparous freshwater fishes. Their size varies from 1.5 to 7 cm, females are larger than males. Males have brighter coloring, but females possess magnificent tails. Most often they keep on average a water layer, without hiding neither under stones, nor among plants. Small fishes constantly move, kind of "dancing" in water, it is very interesting to watch them.
Water with the average content of salt, and the most suitable temperature – 24 degrees is necessary for the guppy. If water temperature for a while falls up to 15 degrees or will rise up to 30, small fishes can sustain it, but it is better not to allow such fluctuations. The aquarium is necessary spacious, not less than 10 l on one couple of adult small fishes.
Guppies are inclined to obesity, it is better to underfeed them, than to overfeed.
Adult guppies suit any dry feeds. They need also a live forage: nitchaty seaweed, Cyclops, water fleas, trubochnik. Adult small fishes need to be fed once a day, newborns – 3 times, and from sex determination up to 4-6 months – twice. The remains of a forage need to be removed from an aquarium. It is easy to distinguish a pregnant female of the guppy on the increased paunch and a black speck near an anus. If the paunch took square shape, so spawning approaches. A female it is necessary to transplant in a separate 3-liter jar on which bottom it is laid elodeya, pressed down by a stone. Females can devour the posterity that it did not occur, it is necessary to build thickets from the Thai fern and the Javanese moss where whitebaits will be able to hide. To two-week age all forages for whitebaits need to be pounded in dust. Also the maintenance of telescopes does not differ in complexity. Artificially removed breed of goldfishes received the name because of big prominent eyes. Coloring of small fishes varies from orange to black. Aquarium volume for telescopes is defined at the rate of 7-10 l on one individual. As soil coarse sand or river pebble will approach. Sharp stones should not be that small fishes did not injure an eye. Telescopes adore rummaging in soil therefore the root system of plants has to be powerful. Telescopes badly transfer zamutneny waters, they can die even from blossoming of green seaweed therefore filtration and aeration have to be constants.
It is not recommended to support the guppy and telescopes in one aquarium, different conditions are required for these small fishes.
Hardness of water are not of particular importance for these fishes, and temperature it has to be 26-27 degrees. It is necessary to change water partially – 25% of volume – each 5-6 days. Telescopes are almost omnivorous, but are inclined to overeating, it is impossible to overfeed them. For example, for six fishes 3 teaspoons of a crank there are quite enough. It is necessary to feed them once a day in warm season, and in the winter – two times. Once a week needs to be arranged to small fishes "fasting day", without giving a forage at all. Telescopes in March and April breed. In a spawning area which volume has to be not less than 50 l put one female and 2-3 males. Within 2 weeks before spawning of males and females hold separately and strongly feed, and in the last day do not feed in general.
