1. In translation from Latin the walrus (Odobenus rosmarus) is meant by ""the sea horse walking by means of teeth"". When the walrus gets out of water, it clings the powerful tusks to ice floes therefore it seems as if it goes on canines.

2. Walruses are capable to slow down the warm rhythm to maintain low temperatures of ice waters. In addition their special skin (about 20% of lump of a body) and the fat hypodermic reaching 15 centimeters in thickness allows to keep heat in water to walruses.

3. Walruses can see under water to half an hour, without inhaling fresh air.

4. The walrus is an absolute champion on length of a bakulyum among other animals. Bakulyum is a bone in a penis, and at a walrus it can reach 60 centimeters.

5. Morzhovya short moustaches are not hair, and vibrisa at all - extremely sensitive tactile bodies, something the reminding cat's mustache. By means of vibris the walruses first of all look for food: mollusks, snails, sea hearts and other sea trifle.

6. In a neck under skin the walruses have special air bags by means of which animals can swim quietly in water even during sleep.

7. Young walruses have a dark brown color, however with age the skin color turns pale and by an old age can become almost pink.
