The fishes having both male, and female sexual characters are considered as hermaphrodites. The hermaphroditism in itself is simultaneous (or consecutive) presence at a living organism of female and male sexual characters and also bodies for a reproduction.

1. For many species of fish the clear split of their floors and, as a result, bisexual reproduction is characteristic. It is curious that some fishes are polygamous, and others - monogamous. But, perhaps, the most curious fishes are hermaphrodites. It is difficult to believe in it, but some of such fishes in general can change throughout all the life a floor several times. Such individual can function both women's, and men's. Usually at fishes the consecutive hermaphroditism which both the state of environment, and some changes in their population can affect is traced.

There are also such fishes hermaphrodites who at the beginning of the life are males, and undergo cardinal metamorphoses of the reproductive system later, turning into completely functional females. Here it is already about protoandrichesky hermaphroditism. For example, representatives of family of groupers possess this form of hermaphroditism. Also sea gubana can be a striking example of such transformations: all males will be transformed to females with age. However in family of guban also the return process is observed: if necessary and females can take places of the disappeared males. It occurs if from group of guban to withdraw a male. In this case the strongest female will begin to show behavior of a male, and in two weeks her reproductive system cardinally changes, beginning to produce men's gametes.
3. The hermaphroditism of fishes can be not only natural, but also artificial, occurring under the influence of any chemicals. So, for example, the American scientists from United States Geological Survey exploring basins of the large rivers of the USA came to a conclusion that in any given American rivers there were fishes mutants who are bisexual beings. It turned out that hermaphrodites mutants are both maloroty, and macrostomatous dip. Scientists allocated the main habitats of these fishes: Mississippi River, Yamp, Colombia, Colorado, PD, Rio Grande, Colorado, Apalachicola. Biologists from the state geological research center of the USA are sure that this phenomenon is not connected with natural activity of these fishes. According to them, there is a suspicion that hormonal reorganization of these creations happened under the influence of the disorienting chemical signals in their organism. It should be noted that some scientists who claimed earlier that these fishes change the floor under the influence of various chemicals do not exclude a possibility of influence on them of other factors as some of these beings were found in general in quite clean reservoirs.
