1. Most often lock at cats cause such products as rice and a boiled liver. Veterinarians noticed that the cats eating mainly damp or dry feeds quite seldom face this problem. Anyway, and further actions for fight against this illness are carried out only after the careful analysis of a food allowance of the pet. The exception of daily food of an animal of fermented milk products, boiled rice and a liver and also vegetables and porridges will be the first step.
2. The disease under the name megacolon – severe stretching of a colon can be one more cause of a lock in cats. In this case the structure of intestines and also its function is broken. If the cat has this disease, then will test a condition of a lock regardless of the food. Anyway it is necessary to put a cat into the corresponding diet and to observe his excrements. If in 1-2 days nothing changed, it is necessary to address the veterinarian urgently. The delay in this case can be death similar!
3. The veterinarian will define, than the cat – a usual lock or impassability of intestines suffers. 4. It is necessary to stock up with the vaseline oil acquired in usual pharmacy. It is impossible in a case with cats to use castor and vegetable oil! Vaseline oil softens the stool which got stuck in a colon and does not do harm to intestines walls. Is ill that, it is not soaked up by a cat's organism unlike the vegetable oil which is harmful influencing the pet's liver. It is necessary to pour in oil in a corner of a mouth of an animal in number of 10-20 ml. In principle, vaseline oil has no unpleasant taste therefore the cat should not resist, but everything is individual.
5. In 4 hours after the first reception it is necessary to repeat this procedure. This time there will be 5 ml of oil enough. After that it is necessary to watch the pet: if the chair is not observed, then it is necessary to repeat the procedure to 5 times, giving to a cat no more than 5 ml of oil each 4 hours. If after the first reception at a cat the anus begins to come out oil, then it will testify to a lock or to partial impassability of intestines. The enema will be excellent means in this situation, however the unprepared owner will not be able just to deliver it to the pet. Therefore it is better to entrust it to the professional veterinarian.
6. One more treatment of the complicated or absent defecation at cats – use of the therapeutic means softening stool is similar to vaseline oil. The most popular is the Laktusan laxative restoring useful microflora, oppressing pathogenic and protecting an animal organism from toxins. It is also possible to use the "Duphalac" which is the sparing laxative and stimulating a vermicular movement of intestines of a cat. This medicine works in a day - two after introduction to an animal organism. Doses of both medicines have to be selected the veterinarian! You should not measure them "by eye" in house conditions.
