Dreams make very important part of the life of people. They can excite or, on the contrary, please. They are told psychoanalysts and tried to be interpreted by means of dream books. The question and of what dreams pets – cats and dogs concerns the person.
The owners catsof and dogs paying enough attention to the pets often claim that their favourites dream dreams. It is worth observing only a little animals to make sure of it. Under centuries the fast movements of eyes can be noticeable, cats are capable to touch paws as if chase someone, dogs – to whine and even to bark. Long time scientists considered it only empty desire of owners to allocate the pets with human lines, however then made several experiments and found out that cats and dogs can really have dreams.
Dream mechanism
During a slow dream the breath and pulse slows down, the muscular tone decreases. Neither the animal, nor the person in a similar state sees any dreams. As well as people, animals observe a dream only in a phase fast, or as it is called still, a paradoxical dream. At this time the tone returns to normal, eyes begin to move under centuries. Then also various things can dream.
As at the person, the phase of a REM sleep takes about 20-25% of all time allocated for rest a cat and a dog. However at puppies and kittens the situation is in a different way. For example, the phase of a paradoxical dream takes 90% of time little puppies.
Experiments with a blue spotScientists found out that cats and dogs have dreams, however they were all the same haunted by a question that specifically dreams animals why they are angry, scaredly whine, sniff to something or move paws in a dream. Not too humane experiment helped to clear a situation. At a brain there is a tiny zone which received the name "blue spot". Blue spot does not allow sleeping to make all those actions which they do in a dream. In the beginning scientists made an experiment on a cat, having subjected a blue spot to destruction. In the afternoon the animal behaved as usual – it ate, washed, purred and hunted for a bow on a string, as well as ordinary cats. Having plunged into a phase of a slow dream, the cat also differed in nothing from the healthy representative of the cat family. However during a phase of a REM sleep the animal paced about the room, chased own tail or washed. The similar experiment was soon put also on dogs. Canine friends of the person were engaged in the same, than and usually: sentry dogs loudly barked, driving away uninvited guests, hunting – caught up with production.
According to researches, dreams dream dogs of tiny breeds more often than to large dogs.
During the experiments it became clear that animals during rest, generally dream in what they were engaged in the afternoon – whether tracked down a chicken, fought with a neighbour's cat or chased the passing cars. In it dogs and cats not too differ from people.
