Walks with a cat: pros and cons
If the cat is active and mobile, and in the apartment she has an opportunity to run about, play and surf, to sharpen claws, and owners care for that, except a forage, the cat had in access a green grass – in walks by and large there is no need. It is not recommended to drive on walks:
- not castrated animals – probability is high that cat's smells on the street will provoke them to active search of couple and escapes from the house;
- kittens aged up to five months;
- adult animals without inoculations – on the street the risk is high "to catch" an infection;
- the cats who recently carried diseases;
- excessively aggressive cats;
- very timid and nervous animals.
How to prepare a cat for walk
If you made the decision to drive a cat on walks – buy in pet-shop an antiflea collar and a breast-band for cats (for kittens and tiny kitties it is possible to use a breast-band for rabbits). At cats weak muscles of a neck, therefore a collar as at dogs, it is impossible to use. And the lead nevertheless is an indispensable condition of walk "without consequences": cats quite violently react to sharp sounds and the threats which seemed to them. And the slightest fright can lead to rapid flight or attempt to get on a tree.
Before the first time to come for walk, accustom a cat to a breast-band – at first put on him "harness" and let's get used to it. Then hook a lead and you walk with a cat round the apartment. After the animal ceases to be nervous and try to tear off from itself a breast-band, it is possible to try to go outside with it.
Where and how to walk with a cat
The optimum place for walk with a cat is the park. Walks on asphalt or dirt roads do not bring to cats of pleasure, they prefer to go on the soft earth and a green grass. As the majority of cats combine walks with eating of a grass, it is desirable to choose places far away from highways – where noise of cars is not heard, and greens are not covered with dirt.
