Representatives of fauna from family of squirrel represent surprisingly beautiful and graceful creations. There is a separate genus of chipmunks of group of rodents who are widespread almost on all North America, the countries of Europe and Asia.
Chipmunks – the smallest penises of family squirrel. For this reason these animals can resemble ordinary squirrels, however chipmunks differ from them. There are twenty five known species of chipmunks. They eat nutlets, berries, seeds and grains.
The sizes of chipmunks vary depending on specific accessory. The weight of an animal is from 30 to 130 grams, and the sizes – from 5 to 15 cm. At chipmunks a long tail which can be from 7 to 12 cm.
Hiding I go in zashchyochny bags, they carry it in the minks on storage. These rodents winter in hibernation, but they do not accumulate for this purpose fat, and slowly eat the prepared stocks.
In spite of the fact that chipmunks are excellent "climbers", they prefer to be underground, is closer to the minks. It is easy to recognize them by chocolate or henna-red color and five dark strips on a back.
After the 30-days period of incubation, chipmunks give life to new generation. Cubs are born nonhairy and absolutely helpless.
Chipmunks are territorial animals. Their zones do not exceed hundred yards. The quantity on an acre usually is from two to four individuals.
However, a mink swarm in gardens and lawns, digging out recently planted seeds, eating flowers, stalks and fruits, and gnawing through bark of trees and a kidney, these little squirrels can easily turn into wreckers.
On average, chipmunks live three-four years in wild conditions, but can live up to eight years in bondage.
Some of the most widespread species of chipmunks are Siberian (Asian) and East American. There is one more subgenus of chipmunks to which several types belong. For example, small chipmunk, Alpine chipmunk, Californian chipmunk, ryzhekhvosty chipmunk, pine chipmunk and several others.
Thanks to chubby cheeks, big eyes, strips and fluffy tails the chipmunks were fallen in love to animators and received the leading roles in Hollywood.
