The cow has absolutely unusual stomach which consists of 5 departments: hem, grid, book, maw and intestines. Such stomach allowed and allows to be enough food, to swallow and leave so that predators did not manage to catch. And only then, in the safe place – cows began to chew food.

The hem of a cow is huge, it is capable to contain to 120 kilograms of food and to store it up to two days.
By the way, cows have no upper teeth, and the upper gum completely firm. They do not chew, and fray food with its help. At this stage of mastication there is also the main grinding of grass chewing gum: the cow long chews her, then swallows, and food goes to "book", and later to a maw where there is a process of its assimilation. Unlike a hem "book" can acquire only small particles of food, and its volume does not exceed 10 liters therefore animal all the time hungers a lung, again and again being enough a grass.
Such system helps cows to receive a maximum of nutrients from a grass which is a basis of their diet.
And what if not to chew?Those who keep a cow in subsidiary farm, know that chewing of chewing gum an animal – good sign. The ill cow or that which is in a condition of a stress cannot just chew food, so, such animal also will not milk. Failure of a stomach of an animal can be caused also by swallowing a sharp metal object, for example, of nails or splinters of metal. Such cases are very widespread and quite often lead to damage of a hem and the termination of formation of chewing gum. Without treatment which is performed by the most part tar the animal perishes for hunger.
