"Blossoming" of water is characteristic of various reservoirs including house aquariums. Water usually turns green in the summer – in July or August, this process can be followed by an unpleasant smell and death of small fishes. To get rid of "blossoming", it is necessary to find out its reason.

1. Except small fishes, snails, plants and other living creatures plankton causing water blossoming – nitchaty and monocelled green seaweed also lives in an aquarium. In the conditions of the average or low illumination, low water temperature, phytoplankton breeds slowly, water remains transparent. Intensive increase in mass of microorganisms is promoted by some factors.
2. The main reason for the strengthened growth of microscopic seaweed – a large amount of light. If illumination of an aquarium is too intensive, water can become green even in the winter. In the summer for "blossoming" it is enough also natural day lighting, especially if the aquarium costs under direct sunshine.

4. Existence in water of excessive amount of organic matter – one more factor promoting reproduction of microorganisms.
