As freedom can limit desires

As freedom can limit desires

Kind of it is strange sounded, but manifestation of freedom in many respects limits desires whereas suppression kindles her these desires. Also this postulate of many spheres of life concerns: relationship, consumption, policy.

Parents from first years of life of the child acquire the simple truth: if to forbid something, the child it will want, and is many times stronger, than before the ban. Such is human nature, and it does not change with age at all. As soon as someone limits its freedom, it is at once perceived negatively, up to disagreement and even a revolt. And desire to possess forbidden increases many times. But once you resolve the forbidden thing, to give free rain on its use, this desire vanishes somewhere, is frequent - to absolute indifference.

Forbidden fruit is the sweetest

It is possible to observe this phenomenon in various spheres of life. Politicians can limit freedoms of citizens, impose them strict laws which lead to mass shadowings, denunciations, punishments. In these actions of the country leaders the desire to develop own rules, to forbid volnodumy citizens and to subordinate them to the will is shown. But the more the loop of the imperious law drags on, the less freedom remains at people, the more their desire this freedom to possess. As a result the conflict can reach revolution scales. Other examples can be seen in relationship of people in marriage: kind of the jealous partner did not seek to limit freedom of his companion of life, not to release from the house and to make rows, all this will lead only to resistance and parting.

Restriction of desire

On the other hand, desire to exceed a reasonable framework does not arise when the person feels free. As soon as the individual receives freedom, it limits his desires. He stops thinking about a desire subject as he can receive it at any time without fight and the bans. In absolute majority of cases the received freedom minimizes desire of some action. As if the deficiency of products in shops of Soviet period is replaced with abundance of supermarkets of the present. In the beginning eyes still run up also desire to try all gradually strongly, but then there occurs accustoming and detached tranquility: the freedom of choice leads to unwillingness to make this choice. In such conditions of people itself begins to realize a framework of freedom and to appreciate them not to be deprived of a possibility of the choice. Self-restriction – here the most loyal way of restriction of desire which is provided only by freedom, but not external laws or rules. Not for nothing therefore the democratic system of some countries allows the citizens "excessive freedom" – that is actions a little more free, than it is accepted that citizens did not even think of violations in this area.
