As the child about one year has to put on weight

Within the first year of life of the child the pediatrician monthly examines. One of compulsory procedures is weighing. By its results the doctor draws a conclusion how the kid gains body weight and whether additional food is required to it. You can independently estimate an increase of weight of your child.

It is required to you

  • - scales

Instruction

1. Regularly weigh the kid on children's scales. At their absence use floor: get up on scales without child, remember the weight, then take the kid on hands and be weighed together. Subtract the body weight from the received result, and you learn the child's weight. Do not try to trace an increase daily: for receiving an objective picture it is enough to do of it once a week.

2. In medical literature it is possible to meet different method of calculation of optimum body weight of the child about one year. It agrees one of them, on average the healthy full-term kid has to add 800 grams a month, that is the formula of approximate calculation will look as follows: M (g) = m +800n, gdem – the body weight of the child at the birth; n – age in months.

3. Other technique assumes gradual decrease in a monthly increase by 50 g, since 4th month. For convenience be guided by the following indicators: 1 month – 600 g; 2 months – 800 g; 3 months – 800 g; 4 months – 750 g; 5 months – 700 g; 6 months – 650 g; 7 months – 600 g; 8 months – 550 g; 9 months – 500 g; 10 months – 450 g; 11 months – 400 g; 12 months – 350 g.

4. Children put on weight differently: someone more norm, someone is less. If your child gains body weight more slowly, than it is necessary, that is probability that he does not gorge on or is sick therefore surely consult with the doctor. The pediatrician will write out to you the scheme of feeding at which needs of the kid will be provided fully because malnutrition can lead to lag in motive development.

5. You can calculate the approximate volume of food (V) which the child has to receive daily, being guided by formulas: - for children 2 months are younger: V = 800 – 50 (8-n) where n is age of the child in weeks; - for children 2 months are more senior: V = 800 + 50 (n-2) where n is age of the child in months.

6. If the child puts on weight more than put, do not worry that you overfeed him. The kid himself knows how many it is required to him milk or mix and if eats superfluous, then srygnt. Besides, not all children gain weight evenly: within the first months the child can add in large quantities, and in the following – it is less, and it is not an aberration.
