The consciousness of the personality begins to be formed in infancy and corresponds to the main stages of mental development. It is the factor affecting behavior of the person.
The consciousness is the main condition of life of each person. Thanks to it there is not only an understanding of, but also the correct forming of relationship with people around. The main objective which is solved at the same time – understanding of the "I", the identity and independence.

This theory was formulated H. Sacks. He noticed that at first about the person there is an impression at other people. It leads to estimation of the personality. Then at the subject the reaction to the received assessment is formed. Thus, other person is "specular reflection" thanks to what the person acquires information on himself and the acts. But this look was criticized as children up to 11 years consider that parents know about them more, than preschool children and school students. On the basis of this theory J. Mid's hypothesis which received the name "Concept of Symbolical Interactionism" was formulated.
Stages of formation of consciousness (L.S. Rubenstein's theory)
These stages completely coincide with the periods of mental development of the kid. The baby actively has a formation of the scheme of a body. There is it thanks to the fact that the child begins to understand where his parts of a body and where mother's begin, for example, come to an end. The scheme of a body includes also objects which long are in contact with the kid (clothes). The second stage is connected with the period when the child begins to take the first steps. It promotes that the person begins to build in a different way the relationship with other people. For the first time the feeling of independence begins to appear. The third stage is connected with creation of polorolevy identification. The child begins to realize that he is a boy or the girl. At this moment he begins to identify himself with other surrounding people. The fourth stage affects development of speech activity. Are built new the relation of the kid with adults. There is an opportunity more accurately to form the desires and to demand from people around of their performance. There are also other theories which are actively discussed by scientists. For example, according to the concept of self-perception it is considered that the consciousness is formed as a result of observation of by itself. Anyway the consciousness affects behavior of the person and is set of ideas of itself, estimates of surrounding people.
