Imprisonment is thought up, introduced and is used for the purpose of correction of human behavior. Not each person is capable to improve and become the law-abiding citizen of society, but influence of prison changes outlook of everyone who was there.

1. The imprisonment term depends on the made act, however in each case the stay in prison has to provoke the person to think of what he made and to understand that this way it is impossible to act. It in the theory. In practice it turns out that all people different and imprisonment happens everyone.
2. The psychologists who are engaged in studying this problem noticed that finding of the person in prison is irreversible more than 7 years influences his mentality. There is not an understanding of a situation and desire to correct the life, and full acceptance of prison values and the corresponding way of life. The prison is so hostile environment that leaves a serious mark on consciousness of the person.
3. If the person gets to prison for the first time, on him very much presses a condition of unfreedom, restriction of movements, actions and a circle of contacts. Besides, in any prison own laws which need to be understood and adopted too work. From that, how fast the person adapts to new rules, not only his health, but also life depends sometimes. However, despite all inconveniences and restrictions, the person gets used also to it over time. And after a while already any other environment for him will be alien and unacceptable.
4. In prison the strict principle of hierarchy works: or the person subordinates others, or submits. After release from the conclusion many, having got used to similar cast, and in life look for similar people.
5. Very great value renders on the person what he lost, being in imprisonment. If term was small, and the house, family and some acquaintances is free, there is an opportunity to come to work and to return practically besides to a way of life which was to the conclusion. And if the former way of life is lost, all acquaintances only from the circle of the same former prisoners, to get a job an opportunity very small, the person remains in this way of life and it will become already improbable law-abiding.
6. The more the imprisonment term, the is less than probability to become the same full-fledged representative of society and to be in the system of the public relations as it was to the conclusion. The former prisoners, as a rule, find each other on freedom, unite and in common look for opportunities for survival. Most often, it is, unfortunately, illegal methods and ways of enrichment and the device in life.
7. The prison changes everyone who happened to visit there at least once. The person who reconsiders the life and after release starts everything "with a clean slate", this rare exception among the general rule of the changed people.
