Characteristic on the child – one of the most often made documents necessary in work of the tutor, class teacher, social teacher. It can be necessary at arrival of the child in kindergarten or school, when changing the place of study, in other cases. Competently written characteristic helps to make the first idea of the child, his personal, psychological features, to truly pick up methods of pedagogical interaction with it.
Three main types of characteristics are known: pedagogical, psychological and psikholgogo-pedagogical. Psychological characteristic is made by the psychologist on the basis of the data obtained as a result of observations of the child, different test tasks and other types of a psychological research. Psychology and pedagogical characteristic can be given by the teacher with use of data of the psychological analysis, the teacher or the tutor can independently write pedagogical characteristic on the basis of own pedagogical experience.
Characteristic has no unified form, but making it, it is necessary to hold to the following plan more or less accurately.
General information about the child is right at the beginning reported: his surname, name and middle name, age (or date of birth). The educational institution which is visited by the child, a class or number of group can be also specified.
Further the short analysis of family conditions in which the child is brought up is given: full or incomplete family, social status of parents, their age and professional activity. It is specified with whom the child lives, a short assessment is given to the general psychological climate in family, to style and the main methods of education which are used by parents.
The main interests of the child, his preference in educational or game activity, types of classes which cause difficulties are listed to Obzorno. Also the level of social and public activity of the child is estimated: its position in collective, sociability degree, friendly relations, features of communication with companions and adults. It is possible to list public instructions which are carried out by the pupil in a class, and its attitude towards them, activity in affairs of children's collective, etc. Also assessment of the general level of cultural and esthetic development of the child, feature of a speech development and an outlook can be given in characteristic. It is also briefly analyzed, the child's self-assessment is how adequate, the level of its claims is defined, the ethical and moral qualities characteristic of it are listed. Characteristic, as a rule, comes to an end with pedagogical or psychological recommendations about further improvement of merits. Also possible methods and ways of correction of the available shortcomings can be specified. Not always it is necessary to give so total characteristic of the identity of the child. This document can be more or less detailed, light more any given parties of the identity of the pupil or preschool child, depending on for what purposes is formed.
