Yet not the adult, but already and not the child - the teenager should face new social roles and requirements. But the most difficult - he should face with himself.
At teenage age the personal development is included into very contradictory dichotomy: on the one hand, teenagers strive for identity and allocation of the I from crowd, and with another there is an insuperable need to belong to some group, to be a part something bigger, than just Ya. Spravlyatsya with a similar dilemma each growing-up child can absolutely differently: from defiance society, withdrawal to blind conformism to any group which is ready to accept it.
Significant changes are undergone by a self-assessment of teenagers. The problem of this period is to collect all parts of the I which ripened all previous life (what I am a son/daughter, the pupil, the athlete, the friend) and to correlate to assessment which society gives it. Very important becomes here to be oneself and at the same time to be entered the identity in requirements of significant group. From that, how easily and smoothly the teenager copes with this task, his feeling and a self-assessment will depend. Many teenagers who hard are given overcoming a conflict dichotomy sharply feel the impracticality and estrangement that leads to a bigger development of the fears peculiar to this period.
Aged from eleven up to sixteen years the most widespread fear is the fear not to be itself, impossibility to be defined who I am such and a part of what am. Fear to be "black sheep". Besides psychological self-determination there can be a fear of change of a body: I change – what happens to me whether there will be I ugly, whether I will be loved it?
From eleven to sixteen years are one more important feature of the period the fact that it is age where "the result" overcomings all fears peculiar to the previous life is summed up. If at any age one or several fears were not worked out rather well, they become again relevant. It the board can have both a fear of the beyond, and fears of a disease, attack, elements, fears of the answer. Even the fear of "a white dressing gown" can move to the forefront again. And now their overcoming will take much more time and forces.
