1. In the first ten days of life of the child the volume of feeding depends on the physiological capacity of his stomach. The volume of a stomach of the newborn child is only seven milliliters. By fourth day of life it increases nearly four times and makes already forty milliliters. For the tenth day – nearly ninety milliliters. And by the end of the first month the volume of a stomach of the child is about hundred milliliters.
2. Calculations for determination of volumes of feeding can be divided into two groups conditionally. Each of them defines the way of calculation of quantity of food of the child. The first - up to ten days of life of the newborn. The second - from ten days of life of the baby to a year.
3. During the first ten days of life of the child calculation of volume of food is made on the following formula: N*. Where N is number of days of life of the child. It is easiest way to define quantity of food.
4. If, for example, to count feeding volume on the body weight of the child, then it can be done by means of two options. The first: at the body weight of the kid 3.2 kilograms and lower than the volume are calculated by a formula: N*. For example, if the child for the fifth day of life weighs 3.1 kilograms, then the daily volume of food will be 5*70 = 350 milliliters. 5. The second: if the child up to 10 days of life weighs over 3.2 kilograms, then the daily volume of food is determined by a formula: N*. For example, the child for the seventh day weighs 3.8 kilograms, then the daily volume of food will be 7*80 = 560 milliliters.
6. Calculation of daily volume of food of the kid from ten days to a year of life is defined by the following formulas: from ten days to six weeks – 1/5 body weights of the child; from six weeks to four months – 1/6; from four to six months – 1/7; from six to eight months – 1/8; from eight to twelve months – 1/9.
7. At the same time it is necessary to remember that the daily volume of food of the child up to one year should not exceed 1.2 liters. Such formulas of calculation of feeding of the child can be applied also to those who are on artificial feeding. Not to overfeed the newborn, it is necessary to watch that how many he puts on weight. If in a week the increase made more than three hundred-three hundred fifty grams, then it is a consequence of overfeeding of the child.
