The pacifier appeared in Europe more than 200 years ago. During this time it underwent changes: there were new materials and forms of pacifiers. However, whatever expensive, qualitative and favourite was the pacifier of your kid, it all the same should be changed periodically to avoid destruction of its structure and harming health of the child.

1. Modern nipples are latex and silicone. There are three main forms. A pacifier cherry with a ball on the end has the identical form from all directions and is convenient that it can be put in a mouth somehow. Nipples in the form of a drop slightly priplusnuta from two parties. They remind mother's nipple which is also flattened during feeding. It is recommended to change them every 2-4 week no matter how often the pacifier is used and in what it a state. Latex easily cracks. Microbes settle in microcracks, and the pacifier becomes brown. To avoid possible consequences for the child, it is necessary to get rid of a latex pacifier before emergence of such changes. Walls of a pacifier should not stick together. Of course, thanks to elasticity it is heavier to bite through a latex pacifier, than silicone, but at identification of any damages, it needs to be changed. Latex nipples from frequent sterilization become friable, and dirt easily sticks to them. You keep a pacifier in a case and wash out before each use.
4. Silicone nipples more rigid, and children love them less. But thanks to the elasticity they are more durable. Besides silicone has neither taste, nor a smell. It does not darken and does not collapse from sterilization in boiled water. Silicone nipples do not cause allergies unlike latex. However it is easier to bite through them therefore it is necessary to check integrity of a pacifier as often as possible. Even the small piece of silicone can be deadly to the child as, having got into airways, it can become the cause of suffocation. It is necessary to change a pacifier from silicone each 4-5 weeks even if it is absolutely whole.
5. Bad fastening of a rubber part to a nagubnik can also become the basis for replacement of a pacifier. If there is an opportunity, check quality of pacifiers before purchase. The ring also has to be densely fixed and made of thick plastic. With any defects the pacifier should be replaced.
