1. Most often during pregnancy Utrozhestan is appointed at threat of its interruption, for prevention of an abortion at women whose previous pregnancies ended unsuccessfully and also at in vitro fertilization.
2. Utrozhestan is appointed by the gynecologist in a certain dosage and on medical indications which are established during survey of the patient. Do not do it independently without consultation of the expert: medicine assumes long reception within several weeks, strict observance of discipline also does not allow sharp cancellation.
3. The approximate daily dose of progesterone at threat of an abortion makes 200-400 mg, and in special cases can be increased up to 600 mg. When the condition of the woman stabilizes, the doctor can lower a dosage or to leave it without changes for the entire period of treatment. According to the instruction, Utrozhestan can be accepted up to 20 weeks of pregnancy, but depending on a condition of a placenta the gynecologists sometimes increase application duration up to 36 weeks. In other words, in questions of intake of medicine strictly follow appointments of your doctor.
4. Utrozhestan can be accepted in or by vaginal introduction, but during pregnancy the second way as thus progesterone is soaked up quicker, than through digestive tract is more preferable. Besides, intake is contraindicated to women with violations of functions of a liver.
5. Reception of Utrozhestan consists in the following: - carefully wash up hands; - enter one or several capsules into a vagina on depth of 5-8 cm; - lie down for 20-30 minutes that medicine was dissolved in an organism, worked and did not flow out ahead of time.
6. For successful application of Utrozhestan meet several conditions: - take the drug always at the same time depending on a medical prescription: single reception in day – before going to bed, double – in the morning and in the evening, triple - at 6:00, 14:00 and 22.00; - not to injure mucous a vagina, shortly cut nails or put on a fingerstall at introduction of capsules; - as capsules follow from a vagina after a while, use panty liners to protect underwear.
7. Coordinate cancellation of Utrozhestan with the obstetrician-gynecologist. The scheme of gradual decrease in a dosage by 100 mg a week is usually applied. For example, if the daily dose up to 20 weeks of pregnancy made 400 mg, then at smooth cancellation on the 21st week accept 300 mg a day, with the 22nd – on 200 mg, and with the 23rd - on 100 mg within 7 days then stop reception of capsules.
