The period when the woman has an ovulation - an exit of the ripened ovum, and during this period the probability of fertilization of an ovum the highest. The ovulation occurs approximately in the middle of a menstrual cycle. If the menstrual cycle makes 28 days (it is considered of the first day of the following, monthly till first day), then the ovulation occurs approximately for the 14th day, at a 35-day menstrual cycle – for the 17-18th day of a cycle (at each woman individually). To know the most favorable period for conception or, on the contrary, if pregnancy is undesirable, it is useful to be able to calculate day of an ovulation precisely.

1. The calendar method of calculation of day of an ovulation is not always exact, especially it is not necessary to rely on it if the menstrual cycle is irregular.
2. One of ways of definition of day of an exit of an ovum – the test for an ovulation. It can be bought in any pharmacy. Its essence is that the test strip reacts to the content of the lyuteiniziruyushchy hormone (LH) in the woman's urine. This hormone in usual time is present at the minimum quantities in the woman's organism. But in 24-36 hours prior to an ovulation there is a sharp raising of this hormone, as allows to draw a conclusion on the ovulation moment. Five strips which need to be used in the middle of a cycle are included in the package of the test and to monitor reaction. The first day for test is calculated on a formula cycle Length – 17.
3. For calculation of the period of an ovulation it is also possible to keep the schedule of basal temperature. It is measured rektalno every morning, at the same time, right after awakening, each result registers. In day of an ovulation temperature sharply increases up to 37.0 - 37.2 degrees.
4. One more way - by means of ultrasonography. So you will be able to determine most precisely the moment of an ovulation and even to observe development of an ovum (at regular researches it is possible to predict rather precisely the moment of maturing of an ovum).
