Christening – an important holiday in life of parents and the kid. It is necessary to prepare for it with all gravity, beginning from preparation for a christening, the choice of Godfathers, to dishes on a holiday table. Godfathers have to accompany the child on life, supporting him and giving advice.

1. It is necessary to remember the next moments of a christening. Spouses, or couple which consists in close relations should not be God mom and dad. Mother of the kid should not come into church up to 40 days since the birth of the child. The boy the man has to christen, the girl – the woman. The child can give two names: one at the birth, the second – at a baptism. It is considered that it will help to save it from struggles of life.
2. On Godfathers from the moment of the baptism of the kid the heavy responsibility for spiritual development and education of the godson lays down. Also they can undertake a part of efforts on preparation for a holiday. From time immemorial the godson can give an icon of his Saint the size in growth of the kid. Today are usually limited just to an icon, without paying attention to its sizes.
3. All expenses on a baptism are assigned to the godfather, he gives to the godson a cross and a chain. The godmother has to buy a baptismal shirt and a towel. It is possible to give also earrings, rings, a silver spoon which will become the first for the child when he is able independently to eat, etc. Also nurseries of the Bible, other spiritual books are given.
4. Upon termination of a church ceremony all family together with Godfathers gathers at the holiday table. That woman who the first bathed the kid or helped when bathing has to direct a holiday. Generally this role is carried out by the child's grandmothers.
5. The main course on a christening – special porridge which is cooked in a pot. For it the auction among guests is conducted, but the godfather has to win surely a result. The gained money gives to the child's mother, and accurately breaks a pot with porridge against the table edge. Each guest has to taste this porridge, and the remains to collect and carry to the children. Usually on a christening cook borsch, different porridges, pies.
6. An entertaining part of the program completely depends on imagination of parents and their material resources. Some solemnly plant on the same day a tree under a loud applause of guests, others triple a magnificent salute, the third do by the hands the book of remembrance to which guests write wishes and parting words to the kid.
