1. Look narrowly at the child. In children's, and especially at chest age, it is difficult to detect otitis. But the behavior at the sick child changes. The baby cries during feeding. The child can begin to cry suddenly, during the game, for example, long falls asleep, turns in a bed or behaves uneasily on hands during a motion sickness.
2. Examine the child's ear, at external otitis the integument surrounding acoustical pass reddens, and pass is narrowed because of hypostasis. It is possible to notice translucent allocations which accumulate in acoustical pass. At the disease of an external ear caused by group A streptococci - erysipelatous inflammation - body temperature up to 39.0 °C and increases above, is shivering the child, the appetite is absent. At the same time there are a reddening and hypostasis on an auricle, and on skin there are bubbly pimples filled with transparent liquid.
3. Observe the kid: if the periods of concern are replaced by slackness, the child quickly gets tired, there are diarrhea and vomiting, it is possible that it is catarrhal otitis which can pass into a purulent form. Allocations then from an auricle become white or green color, can have a gray shade. It is characteristic of a rupture of an eardrum.
4. Surely show the child to the doctor-ENT specialist, he will examine an auricle, will study all symptoms, will write out the direction on analyses and will establish the diagnosis, and after that will pick up the necessary course of therapy. In certain cases, for example, at purulent otitis, appoint physical therapy in parallel with the main treatment. The doctor can establish otitis and at ill-defined symptoms, even when disturbs nothing the child, except the complicated swallowing at meal time. Never self-medicate.
