It is important to use always the same thermometer.

2. Before going to bed, put the prepared thermometer near a bed that it could be got easily since morning.

3. In the morning, without changing situation, take the thermometer and take temperature in a vagina or in a rectum. It is also possible to take temperature in a mouth, but then values of basal temperature will be slightly higher. Use only one method of measurement of temperature to avoid an error in results. You take measurement of temperature within 5 minutes.

4. After that write down indications of temperature in a specially allotted notebook or the calendar. It is also possible to make the schedule of basal temperature in which on abscissa axis you will celebrate date, and on ordinate axis – value of basal temperature.

5. Repeat the listed above actions during all cycle, and then it is possible to define pregnancy approach. The fact is that the cycle is divided into two phases – the phase preceding an ovulation, and a phase of a yellow body. In the first part of a cycle basal temperature remains approximately at the level of 37 °C. During an ovulation there is a jump of temperature, and its value will be about 37.2-37.3 °C. Before the next periods basal temperature falls up to 37 °C again. The phase of a yellow body practically always makes about 14 days whereas the period before an ovulation can vary. Thus, if you found out that basal temperature remains high more than 17 days in a row, it is already possible to speak about probable pregnancy.
