1. The organism of the woman begins to be preparing for pregnancy several weeks prior to its approach. In an ovary under the influence of hormones the follicle with an ovum ripens, and endometrium (internal mucous membrane of a uterus) expands in order that the impregnated ovum could be implanted. Approximately for the 14th day of a menstrual cycle the woman has an ovulation and if this day the spermatozoon impregnates an ovum, there occurs pregnancy. Within two weeks the impregnated ovum exists independently, moving on a fallopian pipe towards a uterus. And only 10-14 days later it is implanted into a uterus cavity. From this point in the woman's organism under the influence of hormones changes thanks to which becomes possible to diagnose pregnancy begin to happen.
2. The first sign of pregnancy is the periods delay. But, unfortunately, it can be caused also by other reasons. Nevertheless, diagnostics of pregnancy can be carried out, since first day of a delay. The most available and easy way of definition of pregnancy is the rapid test. It is carried out in house conditions and usually yields exact result. The principle of its action is that after implantation of the impregnated ovum in an organism of the woman special hormone - a horionichesky gonadotrophin (HGCh) begins to be produced. It is found in blood and the pregnant woman's urine. The test also reacts to it when determining pregnancy. If in urine of the woman there is HGCh, the test will yield positive result. In the absence of hormone the answer will be negative.
3. More exact way of diagnostics of pregnancy is determination of the HGCh level in the woman's blood. This analysis becomes in clinics for women and most private laboratories. By its result it is possible to judge not only pregnancy existence, but also its term.
4. Ultrasonography allows to see fetal egg. Advantage of this method of diagnostics is that it is possible not only to confirm pregnancy existence, but also to make sure that it is uterine. But it is possible to find pregnancy by means of ultrasonography not earlier than in 3 weeks after conception.
5. The obstetrician-gynecologist can diagnose pregnancy during survey, but even the most experienced doctor will not make it earlier, than in 3-4 weeks after conception. By that moment the uterus will increase in sizes so that the doctor will be able to feel changes.
